You can use props and other non-electrical decor to adorn the facade and lawn, with equal or better effect. While strings of light are a beautiful and easy way to make your house stand out, they aren’t the only option available when it comes to decorating for the holidays. When it comes to selecting outdoor Christmas decorations, try thinking outside the box with decor that doesn’t involve linking wires around the patio railing or figuring out how best not to blow the fuse box. Here are some options:

Life-Size Figurines

These are a great addition to outdoor Christmas decorations. Life-sized figurines can now be found in most holiday decor retail stores, but it may be better to order online for a safer delivery. You can choose from an array of designs that speak to your overall holiday theme. A popular theme that has made the most widely-seen version of life-size figurines is the nativity scene of Jesus’ birth. However, you can still find other styles of figurines that are more generic, such as Santa Claus and his North Pole family or plastic snowmen in holiday gear. Life-size figurines have the additional benefit of not requiring electrical outlets (although some varieties can be lit up) and they are easy to store as they are light and solid.

Christmas Wreaths

Another alternative to outdoor Christmas decorations is wreaths. Homes with lots of windows could benefit particularly from having beautiful, ornate wreaths hung on the doors and windows outside the home. Making them all uniform in shape, color, and design while making a centerpiece somewhere in the middle gives it an eye-catching appearance appropriate for the day as well as the night. It can look particularly tasteful on older homes with classic white molding around the windows or on red brick. Simply purchase generic evergreen wreaths (plastic or real) in the same size, tie a red ribbon on each, and hang them on the windows or slightly above. A sturdy ladder may be necessary to reach the second floor.

Window, Flag, And Lawn Decorations

Other types of Christmas home décor may consist of candles inside the windows, hanging flags with Christmas themes, or building snow figures of various Christmas themes on the lawn. You can still use Christmas lights as an accented feature of other outdoor Christmas decorations. Be sure to take proper precautions in not plugging in too many lights all at once to avoid blowing the fuse box. To change it up a bit, create designs that spell out holiday wishes like, “Happy Holidays!” or “Santa: Land Here”.

Whatever you choose, there are plenty of outdoor Christmas decorations that can suit the style of your home.
